Organism - Posted by u/ananxiouscat 1 day ago my boss sent me home early and clocked me out early, so i had to bust out the union contract that states i am to be paid for a full day regardless

Font - to Tom ✓ Thank you for that, but on Friday 3/17 I only have 3 hours recorded. I understand you sent me home that day but per section 22.6 of our contract, employees are to be paid for a full day if they are sent home. 22.6 Any employee hired and not put to work shall be paid not less than a day or night's pay for the shift he was hired. Employees laid off after starting a day or night's work shall be paid not less than a day or night's pay. If an employee is employed after the regular sta

Font - my union rep has already explained this to him as i contacted him the second i left that Friday, yet he did this anyway. my union rep also told me to send this email and reassured me that im standing up for my rights. EDIT 18hrs later: still no reply to my email

Font - MerkyMouse 1 day ago My friend and I have a simple saying. "90/10" which simply means 90% of the work is done by 10% of people. My boss heard me saying this one day and I thought he was going to roll on the ground kicking and screaming the way he was so offended.

Font - jezter24 1 day ago ● You would think. I have had bosses treat employees who basically do all the work and keep them out of trouble, allowing them to be who knows where, like crap while those who don't do anything and cause problems they are buddy buddy with.

Font - Dicho83 23 hr. ago If bosses treat employees as valuable, even if it's only those few who actively show value, then those employees might realize they have value and stand up for themselves and their coworkers. The boss/employee relationship is generally an abusive one full of gaslighting.

Font - Shamed IntoNormalcy 22 hr. ago. edited 22 hr. ago That gaslighting helps make sure that even the most aggrieved will only stand up for themselves, if they ever do. Right here on the sub we have people who act against change in the workplace, but they aren't willing to own up to it. They're the

Font - ones who will call bullshit on any kind of idealistic talk whatsoever, even just pursuing complaints. My point being, when it comes to a workplace voting on organizing, a losing vote might not mean people are satisfied with conditions. It might mean there are a lot of bucket crabs who are so cynical about the possibility of change, they'd rather no one even try.

Font - -Cathexis- 22 hr. ago That's exactly what happened to me. For 5 years I got assigned all the extra work, all the head office training cause I made my manager's location look good. Meanwhile, most of my coworkers were lazy and indifferent (rightfully so, in hindsight). I got paid less than them and did so much more, and got treated like some outsider piece of shit. Never again.

Font - jradke54 22 hr. ago I run a crew, I got lazy dudes and guys who Cary the crew, both paid the same... just how it is. The dudes carrying the crew I made sure got much larger Christmas bonus and try to do little stuff like put "no lunch" field notes in to get them extra 30

Font - MediocreHope 23 hr. ago ● I like that, the 90/10 but I've also liked the retort of "a bigger shovel". What's the reward you get for digging the deepest hole, making the best ditch, moving the most shit? A bigger shovel.

Font - I do my job, I'm good at my job. I can quit tomorrow and get hired somewhere else almost instantly but goddamn am I done breaking my back for my reward being more work. I even warn the new guys, do your job but don't volunteer for shit because once you do that work and you do it well...you got a new "job"; everyone comes to you now.
  • 20
Font - 90% is done by 10% is true but I lean towards the 90% being a bit smarter than the 10% because the bosses never want to promote you...cause you do everything for the same pay as your "lazy" coworkers who do only their job. But I get you too, there are some utterly useless workers that need to be fired (out of a canon)

Font - garaks_tailor. 1 day ago Pareto Principle. It's been proven in statistics that it is a....not law but is so common that it's absence is significantly more remarked upon than it's presence. Also called the 80/20 rule Examples. 80% of all hospital visits are for 20% of the patient population.

Font - 80% of publishing is done by 20% of phd students 80% of sales are done by 20% pf the salespeople Etc. And also it is recursive. So 80% of the 80% of that 80% of the sales are done by 20% of the 20% of the 20%. So like 1% are doing 50% of the sales.
